Well, I have finally gotten some time for a little extra reading, and I stumbled upon the ad campaign/branding initiative for the new Porter Airlines. Check out this interview with the graphic designer: Neal Whittington of Winkreative.

I have that inherent female affection for cuteness more so than any woman I know. However, even if I overlook the raccoon and his obvious cute-factor, I still love this branding concept.

I have noticed a recent push for more simplistic designs. I especially like the rebirth of 1950’s style illustrations. I am happy to say goodbye to the overly airbrushed, high res ads from the late 90’s (think Fanta Commercials). It is nice to see the images take a more streamlined approach. I hope this is a sign that our over-indulgence as a society is becoming less fashionable. Let’s try a little minimalism!

Back to Porter Airlines: I do however, think that their website is a bit under-designed. OK, I admit it…I do want to see more of that cute little Raccoon, but even some images of the fleet or a little more styling of the navigation buttons would improve the site dramatically. What do you think?
